how come WD Passport Portable External 320GB Hard Drive loads slow on macs and my macbook pro??

I called them and they send me the power booster cable but I dont know how it works , I tried doing it but it still loads slow. Also, on my pc it doesnt want to load in the front usb port only the back usb’s. [powered by Yahoo! Answers]
