I can’t open my external hard drive. The computer keeps notifying me that I have to format it.?

And all my back-up files are there :’( Instead of registering as a Samsung Hard Disk Drive, it’s displayed as Local Disk. It says on Properties that I have used up the whole memory, which couldn’t be because I remember I still had 1/4 remaining space left. The Properties doesn’t even display the memory capacity. [...]
