I have a Maxtor one touch III, but it is not compatibile with my new Windows Vista 64 Bits system and Maxtor does not have software to make it compatible. Does anyone know if this Seagate 1TB desktop External hard drive is 64-bit compatible?? Thanks.

In the ad it says the product is USB powered and when I received it, its actually the usual Electric powered hard drive. I already have 2 of electric powered hard drives, the reason why I bought this product was because it said its USB powered and I planned to have one for my travelling. No where in the ad it says its electric powered. I am highly disappointed and its total waste of my money and time. On top of that Amazon in the first place delayed the order for about 4 weeks but then I had to make a long 1 hour call talking to a representative and then to the manager to get the product in a week. I am sure finally these guys resolve the issue but what is the point to create the issue to start with. Basically product is not as its described in the Ad. Highly disappointed with Amazon. com

Don’t buy this drive. Previously I thought it was the packaging, but after returning 2 of these drives, I believe they are just a bad product.
I’ve just received my 3rd replacement, and it failed within 2 days.
Now to try and get my money back from Amazon to buy a working drive.
I own 7 Seagate drives and have never had a problem–this must be a poorly designed or manufactured product.
Should be 1 Star, but can’t override previous rating.

This is a nice drive for backup files. The ‘Green’ feature works very well. When the drive is idle, it uses much less power.
I cannot use this drive to stream DVD VOBs to my media player. The 1GB version of this works great for streaming VOBs.
