class="releaseDateline">Montclair, CA (PRWEB) April 14, 2009

Digital media and IT professional that travel with delicate hard drives can now download anxiety to a trusted name in security. CaseCruzer - that dedicated foe of thieves, turbulence and the invisible torment of static electricity, announces a new carrying case dedicated to protecting essential electronic devices.

Traveling with a fleet of hard drives? Send anxiety on vacation. The new CaseCruzer Universal Hard Drive Case provides a mighty, convenient means of transportation for indispensable yet fragile hard drives. Dangers of travel are minimized by combining a hard outer shell with custom anti-static foam that protects against hard knocks and potentially damaging electrostatic discharge (ESD). The case can carry up to 24 devices.

Like all CaseCruzer design details, the pink anti-static foam is critical to the safe storage of serial ATA (SATA) hard drives and enhanced integrated drive electronics (EIDE). Standard foam used merely to cushion impact is not sufficient protection because it conducts static electricity. The harmful pulses can destroy hard drives, motherboards and other internal computer devices.

Film and television industry technicians, and all other travelers who have serial relationships with computers and servers can now breeze through their day. The Universal Hard Drive case is designed with an extendable handle and exterior mounted urethane wheels for swift, smooth movement through airports and other terrains. These rugged carrying cases can also be stacked when stored.

Double-throw latches make remote or studio access fast and easy, while the metal reinforced padlock protectors secure against theft. One front and two side folding handles make it easy to get a grip on this invulnerable road warrior. A simple cure for a crazy day.

When empty, the shipping and storage case weights only 26 lbs. Exterior dimensions are a compressed 24.81"L x 19.38"W x 13.88"H. That leaves plenty of room for interior protection. Sensitive digital files stored on hard drive will be safe from extreme temperatures ranging from -40 to 210 degrees Fahrenheit. Remote locations and inclement conditions are no match for CaseCruzer.

The Universal Hard Drive carrying case arrives with an integrated circuit of renowned traits: watertight, crushproof, dust proof and equipped with an automatic purge valve. The unconditional lifetime warranty is standard issue. The case comes in basic black only. Perfect for black-tie affairs, such as the Oscars, Emmys and other media events.

When something bad pulses from the operating environment and peripherals, this case is the best protection. Remember: whenever you need a higher frequency, always choose CaseCruzer. It sends a strong signal.

The CaseCruzer network of companies provides the community with the most comprehensive packaging solutions available on reusable carrying cases for applications such as Communications, Photography, Computers, and Electronics. For more info about the new case, visit http://www.casecruzer.com; call 800-440-9925 in the U.S. or 909-613-1999 internationally; fax 909-465-5598; or write to CaseCruzer at 4665 State Street, Montclair, CA 91763

###

Little River, TX (PRWEB) December 22, 2004

ACS Data Recovery (http://www.acsdata.com), a premier provider of hard drive data recovery services, is now specializing in laptop data recovery. With the creation of the Laptop Data Recovery Division, ACS Data Recovery now has the ability to afford special attention to laptop hard drives.

"This is a move we have been steadily progressing towards over the last year" stated company President Greg Duffield. "Laptop drives are a unique challenge, and with that we have decided it may serve our clients better to offer a division of the company dedicated solely to recovering laptop drives."

No newcomer to data recovery, ACS Data Recovery has been restoring lost data since the late 1990's, but this emphasis on Laptop computers is something new. "We realized that we were getting a number of laptop drives in that were deemed unrecoverable by other firms" Duffield recalled. "From there, our success rate at recovering these drives soared, and this area of our business really began to grow as word of mouth spread. This move towards dedicating a recovery division solely for laptop hard drives was a natural."

About ACS Data Recovery

ACS Data Recovery was formed as a division of Advanced Computer Systems in November 2003. Up until then, Advanced Computer Systems had been promoting data recovery as just an additional service they provided. However, the demand for honest, affordable data recovery was extremely high, so the owners established ACS Data Recovery as a dedicated provider of data recovery services to the public.

Media Contact: Greg Duffield

E-Mail Address: greg@acsdata.com

Toll-Free: 1-877-646-0546

Website: http://www.acsdata.com

# # #

For a few weeks now I've been receiving an alert telling me my startup disk is nearly full, telling me I need to delete files. I've been deleting a whole lot of files, dozens, perhaps even a hundred (and yes, I emptied the trash, wiseguy) but today I have received intelligence that my hard drive is FULL. I can't download music, can't save changes to documents, nada. Do I need to buy more memory? For the record, I don't have a ton of stuff ON my hard drive, just an average-sized music collection, some text documents and some images and videos. I'm not sure how much memory is on my HD at present. What can I do?

Best answer:

Answer by MPV
Yes, but not internal memory. Harddisk space. They don't call that 'memory', generally (although, stricly, it is). Adding internal memory modules does not help at all.

You deleted 'hundreds' of files? That doesn't have to be much at all. You can better delete 1 big file of 10GB then 100,000 of 1kB.
Do a search on your harddrive for files, then sort them on size. Use google to identify the bigger ones, to find out if they can be deleted.
A music collection can consume many many MB's. You might need a bigger HD. An option is to buy an external USB-drive, and then MOVE all music to the external drive.
Video collections use even more space.

Maybe you really DON'T have a ton of stuff on the hard drive... But if your hard drive is rather small, then (ofcourse) it more speedily gets full!

What might help: remove the bigger applications completely, and reinstall them, but this time only the things you really need (choose custom setup, skip the defaults).

Give your answer to this question below! Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1 TB USB 3.0/2.0 Ultra Portable External Hard Drive… http://goo.gl/fb/L6dpk - by (PRWEB) March 18, 2004

As our life races ahead with blazing speed, our computing demands grow correspondingly. Can you imagine that several years ago a 40 Mb hard drive was more than enough for holding all data in an average company? The technology evolution brings new demands and the 'massive 20 Gb hard drive' we have bought only a couple of years ago seems really tiny today.

There are three reasons for the growing storage space demand. First, media comes digital and we smoothly move our photos, music and videos to hard drives. Second, applications feature more and more multimedia content which also requires additional drive space. Third, we get completely lost in all those files without ever knowing which of them are actually important and worth keeping and which are not. Is there a way to clean our hard drives out better than purchasing another 'massive storage unit'?

Yes, there is! Presenting Space Searcher, the unique tool intended to save your precious hard drive space and, what's more important, your money!

Space Searcher allows you visually manage your hard drive space by letting you know which files and folders take too much space on your hard drive. The application is capable of detecting heavyweight folders and display several types of graphs, charts and numbers to make sure you know what exactly is stored on your hard drive.

Most people get amazed at how much trash they store on hard drives without even thinking they have such files. They get even more amazed at how much spaced can be freed up at no cost!

Space Searcher is capable of running disk space usage analysis both on small home systems and on enterprise networks. Reports can be saved to Excel or HTML files or printed out immediately providing in-depth analysis of disk space usage. Sorting data in reports is as easy as running the program itself - couple of clicks and you are ready!

Multiple researches indicate that Space Searcher can save up to $ 500 per machine on hard disk replacements! I did exactly that. I touched the exposed circuitry (thanks Seagate for not bolting on a cover!) against the chassis of my pc. I mounted the Seagate 80Gb ATA drive to the chassis but there was a metal tab touching a resistor on the control board. *Crackling sound* I hate the smell of friend circuitry! Ok so I basically broke into a cold sweat when the drive kept setting off my power supply whenever it was plugged in. I had all my design work on it and some recent work I did for some clients that was worth thousands of dollars. How the puck was I to get my data back? I called up a few hard drive data recovery places in Sydney. The average cost to get my data back was 00. Two Thousand Dollars! Remember that amount, I'll continue further with this story. I thought about this for a while and remembered that I had two other Seagate drives. One was a 40gb and another was an 80gb drive. The 80gb drive had a different control board and the 40gb had an identical control board to my fried 80gb drive. The only difference between the fried 80gig and the ok 40gig was the firmware version and a few slightly different chips, but they had the same serial numbers. I couldn't see damage to the control board on my fried drive. But I unscrewed the control board and took a look underneath for discolorations. Nothing visible, but the chips on the control board must have been damaged. Regardless, I took the 80gig that ...
G-Technology 3TB G-DRIVE External Hard Drive 0G01973 NEW<table

EZ Upgrade 1.8T is the first hard drive upgrade kit designed specifically for 1.8" hard drives found in many of the latest portable notebooks and tablet PC's. In three simple steps users can seamlessly transfer all the data from the old hard drive to a new hard drive and transform the old hard drive into a portable Hi-Speed USB 2.0 backup and/or storage solution.

The EZ 1.8T Upgrade process begins by sliding the new hard drive into the EZ Upgrade 1.8T enclosure and connecting to the device's USB port. Next, the machine is booted from the EZ Gig II Hard Drive Upgrade & Backup Software, which begins the drive-cloning process. Finally, remove the old drive and install the new hard drive into the device.

"EZ Upgrade 1.8T Hard Drive Upgrade Kit is Apricorn's latest innovation in our family of award winning hard drive upgrade kits," said Mike McCandless, Apricorn VP of Sales & Marketing. class="releaseDateline">Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 24, 2007

Consumers using external hard drives often assume the valuable data on their PC is protected, but an external hard drive can leave them vulnerable to catastrophic data loss. The problem was evidenced recently when thieves targeted director Francis Ford Coppola’s home, scooping up Coppola’s external hard drive during a raid. Among the items he lost was a script for his latest movie, according to an article in The New York Times.

Coppola’s experience is not an uncommon one. While external hard drives can often be great storage devices, consumers should not confuse them with a backup solution. In addition to being susceptible to theft, external hard drives can also malfunction and be destroyed by fire, flooding and other natural disasters. The valuable data stored on these devices is gone, leaving consumers with no recourse.

Online backup provider Carbonite, Inc., says that the Coppola story highlights the vulnerability of such devices and demonstrates why a good backup solution always entails moving the backup copy to a different location, as most businesses have done since they began using computers. Through painful experiences, consumers are learning to do the same.

“Most people don’t realize that all hard drives eventually fail,” said David Friend, founder and CEO of Carbonite. “The chances of a hard drive failing are somewhere between 5 percent and 13 percent in any one year period. Those are not good odds when you’re talking about irreplaceable data. At Carbonite, your data is stored on redundant disk arrays. There are three completely separate copies of your data on different disks. The chances of all three failing at the same time are nearly zero. />Hello...

I'll assume you mean a flash based mp3 player and a hard drive based mp3 player.

The difference is the technology used to store your music. A flash based player uses internal memory similar to that of SD or CF cards that you would use in a digital camera.

A hard drive based player uses small versions of the type of hard drive you find in your computer.

As flash is more expensive per GB than a HDD is you will see flash in lower capacity players (8 GB and under) whill HDD is generally for the larger players like an Archos/Zune/Video iPod etc.

HDD is more susceptible to errors due to the drive being jostled so you will see it used more in products not meant to be used while attached to your arm or while exercising.

Flash memory per GB is falling in price quickly (there are already laptops that use flash based drives! (called ssd)) so you will likely see hard drive based players phased out in the next 5 years or so.

Add your own answer in the comments! RT @Gizmodo: How To Keep Your iTunes Library When It's Too Big for Your Hard Drive http://t.co/gCazD3a *cough* MacBookAir *cough* - by <a

It is a non-removable device that retains all the information when the computer is turned off. A fast hard drive supplies the computer with data as fast as it needs. Hard drives are measured in Gigabytes (GB) and the larger the number, the more storage the computer has. When looking at purchasing a new home computer or laptop, it is important to understand how the hard drive works with your computer and how much storage capacity you will need.

When saving information on your computer, the application is recorded on a magnetic platter inside the hard drive. Most hard drives have several platters that allow them to spin up to 15,000 times per minute. The amount of hard drive space the computer has will affect how much data that can be saved. The data on a hard drive can be deleted or erased from the memory at any time and does not need a constant power supply to save the information.

It used to be that hard drives were small and had a capacity of no more than 5 MB, now most new computers and laptops have no less than 40 GB. Some hard drive capacities can exceed 120 GB. Today, computers with these capabilities can store a massive amount of information, videos and photos without getting bogged down.

Choosing a hard drive can be confusing if you are not familiar with what to look for. Hard drives can have a very high capacity and they can be very small. It is important when looking at hard drive for your computer or laptop to know what you need. Performance in a hard drive can vary dramatically. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to save information and learning your hard drive is full. If you plan on using your hard drive to store a minimum amount of information, you may not need to spend the extra money on a bigger hard drive.

For storing large files, videos, music and pictures, your computer will need to be equipped with a larger amount of hard drive space. You can purchase 160 GB and bigger of hard drive space on most computers. The general rule of thumb for purchasing hard drive space is to purchase the largest amount of space you think you will need and that you can afford.

Price is another factor when choosing the right hard drive size. The most common size of hard drive for the money ranges from 60 to 80 gigabytes. These hard drive sizes are readily available on most operating systems. They are a good economical choice for computer users needing the computer for everyday storage and use.

Besides the size of the hard drive and purchase price consider access times and transfer rates when looking at hard drives. The transfer rate is how much data can be transferred per second. This can vary though, depending on the condition of the computer. A computer that is nearly full may have a much slower transfer rate.

Transfer rates come in either internal or external. The internal transfer rate is how fast the hard drive can read the date. The external transfer rate is how fast the drive can speed data to whatever it is connected to. Usually, the transfer rate will be a little slower than listed, so it is best to get a faster transfer rate. The external rate is link to the type of hard drive that the computer is using.

Be aware that hard drive speed is affect by the computer's capabilities. If your computer is slow, a bigger and faster hard drive will do you little good. Also, if your computer is operating slowly, a bogged down hard drive may be the problem. If your computer system is running slow, deleting unnecessary files from the hard drive. Defrag is another option used to optimize slow hard drive systems.

Fragmentation of the hard drive occurs when the operating system breaks a saved file into separate pieces and stores them in other places. This usually happens when there is not enough room to store all the date. Defrag takes those stored file fragments and pieces them back together again. The process can be time consuming, but is a good way to optimize hard drive space and the speed of the computer.

About the Author

Gregg Hall is a business consultant and author for many online and offline businesses and lives in Navarre Florida with his 16 year old son.
