What do you have for a computer? Did you follow the directions for plugging your new External hard drive in? Plug the drive into the wall first, then on XP and newer systems plug in the USB cable. It may take up to 4-5 minutes for Windows to recognize the drive and install it. On pre-XP systems, you have to put the CD that came with your drive in first. Follow all of the prompts as it walks you through installing it, and the last thing you do is plug in the USB cable. On a Mac system, well you shoulda bought a PC, cause I’m a PC tech and don’t know anything about Macs.
